Back from living under a rock!

OK...so sorry I've been MIA lately.  I know you were all dying to know what I've been up to ;) Just kidding...but seriously, I've been dying to update you all!

Where do I even begin?!  Let's see...well, Saturdays are our outreach days, so we go out and try to have spiritual conversations with people up and down the beach.  Honestly, evangelism is one of the most uncomfortable parts for me while on this project, but I have definitely seen the Lord work to change my heart from that perspective! I learned that every type of evangelism we do should be relational and intentional and it's been really cool to truly get to know the people we're convesing with on a personal level.

Yesterday my friend Kelsey (fellow job-hunter menitoned in previous blogpost) and I went out to the boardwalk.  We used one of the cru survey tools called "soularium" which is a collection of really interesting and modern photographs that we use to explain the gospel. I love soularium because it's such a unique way to connect with people and allows everyone to interpret images and share their stories in their own way.

One of the conversations we had was with four high school girls: Macy, Heather, Emily and Jenna.  (please keep them in your prayers).  Anyway, the girls really got into the survey and were very curious and definitely seeking.  Kelsey was able to use the soularium pictures to share her testimony with them and we could both tell they all really looked up to us.  They were so cute!  They gave us a stuffed animal prize they won at the carnival and told us to name it Jesus.  Then they even ended up wanting to take a group photo of all of us together!  Celebrity status! It was just really great to be used by the Lord as a role model for younger teens.

So as if sharing the love of God isn't satisfying enough, all my peers and I were able to enjoy a BEAUTIFUL night on the island of Assateague.  It's really well-known because it has these wild horses that just prance around on the sand.  Crazy right?! I mean...it's an island...how did horses get on it? Phenomenon. Well, regardless we didn't even see any horses last night.  Haha...kinda bummed about it.  But we did get in some quality s'more making and worship time!  In fact here is a little clip of our ambiance:

  2. So Brooke- that was you singing the amazing harmony in the video clip, right?!!! Don't sweat the evangelizing stuff- you can share your faith by just being who you are and by being genuinely interested in other people's feelings and thoughts. Good luck on the job hunt and say hi to the ocean for me!!!!
Love- Aunie La ps. you must've missed out on the "Misty" horse book series, huh?
